Lately, it feels like there has been more turbulence than usual across the creator ecosystem and the services that creators utilize to create content, manage their community and monetize their work. Given all the instability and uncertainty, it is only natural to have questions about LiveSpace Media, Inc. (LiveSpace). That's why we're here to address some of the most frequently asked questions.
Who we are and why we do it
LiveSpace began as a dream during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when Founder & CEO Spenser Hyun felt there were just too many platforms that didn’t quite fit the needs of creators. So he set out to build the platform he always wished existed — the ultimate hub for creators to do what they love while building a community and earning income. Today, our growing team includes veteran tech executives and former YouTube and Twitch employees.
LiveSpace is based in Los Angeles and privately funded by like-minded individuals. The team is passionate and dedicated to building the ultimate home for all kinds of creators, not solely limited to livestreaming creators. We want to give all creators the freedom to build their community while exploring their passions and thriving in an environment that enables success without the constant need to be live to be discovered.

Where does LiveSpace stand on…
We aspire to be the most inclusive creator service ever. However, it's important to note that LiveSpace is not a “free speech platform.” We firmly stand by the principles that Black Lives Matter, Trans rights are human rights, and that disabled people exist.
We welcome everyone and provide everyone the opportunity for participate on LiveSpace, but if someone violates our community standards we will take action. Action can include removal of content, a warning and suspension of their account.
We respect creators who produce adult-only content, but we do not permit the promotion or distribution of adult-only content on LiveSpace. We maintain and regularly update our community standards and terms of service to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all users.
Because we care about the future, LiveSpace joined Stripe Climate to help fund next-generation carbon removal, dedicating 1% of all revenue powered by Stripe to power new innovations towards the reversal of the effects of climate change.
How does LiveSpace view emerging technology? What about blockchain and AI?
We are committed to using the best technology for the benefit of our creators on LiveSpace. Our team is hard at work building our low-latency global video network supported through partnerships with some of the leading cloud edge networks like Oracle and Google, and we’re actively exploring the newest innovations in encoding and video delivery tech to improve the streaming experience. In the meantime, we have selected a few fallback network providers to support traffic at launch, including the industry-leading teams at Cloudflare and Livepeer.
Early on, we explored incorporating web3 components because it was an area of interest that we thought could improve the creator experience, but we have since moved away from incorporating these components. While we do not have plans to develop our own crypto token, crypto wallet or NFT marketplace, we may at some point explore integrating simple tools for creators who wish to utilize other technologies.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a vast category of technology that powers various tools like autocorrect, recommendation systems, one-click photo editing and analytics. We utilize AI technology to enhance the recommendation algorithms we build, similar to other platforms where creators share content.
AI also plays a significant role in proactive moderation across LiveSpace, assisting in tasks such as:
- Preventing the use of known hate symbols or slurs in chat or usernames.
- Detecting and handling child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- Identifying phishing scams.
While AI helps us identify harmful content, human review (in addition to automation) will always be involved in examining reports and flagged content before taking any action against a user.
We do not permit third parties to use LiveSpace content to train AI image, video or language models. We do allow AI-generated content as long as it adheres to our terms of service, community standards and all applicable copyright laws worldwide.
If your copyrighted work is used in another creator's content, you can send LiveSpace a takedown notification. It is our policy to act on those notifications under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and similar laws worldwide.
We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all users on our platform.
How do creators monetize?
All creators on LiveSpace earn an 85% revenue split for subscriptions right from the start.
Our ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive suite of monetization tools that enable creators to generate revenue both during livestreams (on stream) and outside of livestreams (off stream). We are exploring advertising formats beyond pre-roll and mid-roll video ads as well as online store integrations and ways for community members to directly support their favorite creators.
Additionally, we plan to introduce features like gifted subscriptions and subscriber-only posts as offerings available to all creators. We also know that chargebacks are a concern for creators and we are currently exploring the best path forward for both creators and LiveSpace to combat chargebacks.

Will LiveSpace offer creators contracts?
We know that other companies offer contracts to a select few creators with massive followings to entice them to switch platforms. As creators ourselves, we believe all creators should earn more.
We want to be the place where creators prefer to create content and engage with their community so our priority is to spread the wealth with a high revenue split for everyone and help them to establish a sustainable and lasting home on LiveSpace.
This doesn't mean we will never offer a contract to a creator or media company that we believe can be a valuable addition to the LiveSpace community. It simply means that offering contracts isn’t our primary approach. Our main goal is to co-create LiveSpace with creators, fostering a collaborative environment that empowers everyone to contribute and thrive.
How does discovery work?
This is an excellent question and our answer will continuously evolve as we refine and develop our tools and technology. In essence, creators can be discovered by new fans through two main avenues: while streaming live in the livestream directory and by sharing content such as thoughts, photos and video clips on the global feed.
To facilitate discovery we are actively working to improve our own recommendation system for both the livestream directory and the global feed. Recommendations will help users in finding content that aligns with their interests.
Creators can expect us to showcase brand-safe creators of all audience sizes and backgrounds, both on the homepage and in our marketing campaigns. And we will announce upcoming campaigns to which creators can apply for participation.
Does LiveSpace allow creators to multistream?
Yes, creators are allowed to multistream. There may be instances, however, when we require exclusivity, particularly when your stream is being promoted on LiveSpace or included as part of a promotional campaign.
Why wasn’t a question answered?
A question can be asked in many different ways, and we have focused on answering as many questions as possible in a concise manner. However, there may be times when we are unable to answer certain questions, and some reasons for that could be:
- When we respond to a question from the community, our answer becomes accessible to everyone, including potential bad actors or competitors.
- There might be questions for which we haven't yet determined the answer and we're not ready to provide a response.
- In some cases, we may simply be unable to share the requested information.
